We founded the Dugdale Charitable Trust in 2011 with a seed deposit of $10 and a loan from our Family Trust.
Our original vision was to build a house in the Wairarapa, which would be auctioned as a charity fundraiser. Thanks to the generous support of many individuals who donated or discounted goods and services, we raised $80,000 for the Wellington Ronald McDonald House.
Inspired by this result, we decided to keep the Trust going. We continued to raise funds through various residential and commercial property projects in the Wellington and Wairarapa regions.
We didn't actively seek out charitable organisations to support, but a pattern began to develop. We would hear, often in unusual ways, about a person or a group with a great vision who lacked the initial funding to get started. It seemed like these opportunities appeared just when we had the funds ready, and it has often felt like an adventure into the unknown. But along with that came a strong sense that we were meant to help and to "work together to make a difference." Each of these projects is now well-established and thriving.
The Trust has developed in ways we never imagined, and we want to thank everyone who has been part (and still is a part) of this amazing journey centered around our
"Passion for People, Property, and Projects."
