Over the past few months the Dugdale Charitable Trust has built a new school for the David Tyler Nursery and Primary School at Buzzibwera in Uganda. There are 10 new classrooms, a kitchen, an administration block, toilets and 6 staff accomodation rooms
This school will eventually provide schooling for around 300 children, including a number of orphans who would not otherwise be able to receive an education.
Due to Covid 19, many families or caregivers are now unable to pay the school fees and as a result only a small number of children are able to return after a year of lockdown.
Maranatha Christian School is in Lower Hutt New Zealand.
This School worked hard at fundraising between 2018 and 2020 and raised NZ $10,000 which paid for one of the new classrooms at the David Tyler Nursery and Primary School.
Letters and photos were exchanged between the chidlren of both the New Zealand and Ugandan school.
Maranatha School sent to Uganda several boxes of school uniforms as well as duplo, books, educational equipment for the nursery classes and toothbrushes. These uniforms are now worn by the senior two classes at the David Tyler School.
Oxygen Property Management has been working together with the Dugdale Charitable Trust in 2020.
The aim of this joint venture was to fundraise to provide clean water for the David Tyler School in Uganda. The photo above shows the jerry cans that are currently used to collect water from a contaminated water hole.
OxygenProperty Management donated $25 for each property that was rented and raised around $1,800 which recently has provided a 10,000 litre plastic water tank for the school.
The Trust has sent over additional funds in 2021 and the 'Brick by Brick' company who built the school buildings, have been commissioned to build 2 x 30,000 litre water tanks.
The tanks should be operational by early June 2021.

The Dugdale Charitable Trust partnered with the David Tyler Nursery and Primary School in Uganda to replace the old inadequate school structures (see photos below) with a new purpose built school. (next page) This school now has 10 classrooms, a kitchen, toilets and staff accommodation for 6 teachers. The new school caters for up to 300 children.
Our contact at the school is Daniel Kyaterekera. He has committed his life to supporting and educating some of the 2.5 million orphans living in poverty in Uganda.
There are no free education or welfare systems in Uganda. The fees at the David Tyler School are kept to a minimum to make it possible for more children to attend school.
Due to the impact of COVID causing loss of jobs and small businesses, many families are no longer able to pay the school fees. As a result, only a small number of children are returning to school after a year of schools being closed. The Trust is working with the David Tyler School to support children who may otherwise miss out on an education.
To sponsor a child to attend school for one year if you live in New Zealand and are eligible for an I.R.D discount, we invite you to make a one off donation of $300 to the Trust ANZ account in New Zealand.
